The best way to enjoy the outstanding beauty of the countryside around Moffat is by walking.
Hillside, woodland, waterside and town walks are all accessible from Kirsty Cottage within minutes.
Booklets with details of walks of all levels in and around Moffat are kept in the cottage. These can be adapted to suit your needs, or you can create your own favourite routes from the many footpaths and bridleways.
More adventurous walkers will enjoy the challenge of covering sections of Britain's first official coast to coast footpath - the Southern Upland Way. It covers 212 miles (340 km) from Portpatrick on the south-west coast to Cockburnspath on the eastern site.
The route runs near Moffat and through spectacular scenery in the area, including the Loch of the Lowes and St Mary's Loch.
